It’s no secret that the fashion world is waking up to the climate emergency - we’ve seen sustainability become a major talking point over the last few years, and the catwalks for AW20 reflected this during London Fashion Week. French designer Roland Mouret is best known for his feminine silhouettes and smart tailoring, and of course his iconic ‘Galaxy Dress’ which launched in his Spring 2006 collection and has been worn by everyone from Cameron Diaz to Kim Kardashian. For the brand’s AW20 show, however, the focus was firmly on sustainable design, reflected in his collaboration with footwear brand Dear Frances, which focuses on slow fashion and classic styles, and our parent company BOTTLETOP.

Styles from BOTTLETOP’s Classics range and upcoming Spring/Summer collection were paired perfectly with flowing metallic dresses and boxy 80s inspired shapes, adding textural accents and a cool edge to smarter looks. Models hit the runway with bags worn over the shoulder, belted around the waist and clutched by their sides. Styled by Sophia Neophitou-Apostolou, each look showcased the versatility of BOTTLETOP bags, which - like many of the key pieces on the runway - will quickly become sustainable wardrobe classics.

In a post show discussion, Roland sat down with BOTTLETOP and #TOGETHERBAND co-founder Cameron Saul and Dear Frances founder Jane Frances to discuss the sustainable future of fashion. As Roland Mouret moves towards becoming a carbon negative company and sourcing more materials responsibly (70% of new collection materials are sustainably sourced), Roland spoke about how a collaboration with BOTTLETOP felt both ideologically and aesthetically a natural fit. ‘Straight away we could see that the bags worked with the silhouettes - I didn’t want to change any of the designs and that is the beauty of collaboration, it came together and it works’.

By buying a BOTTLETOP bag you are supporting our artisans in Brazil, who craft our beautifully designed bags from 100% recycled and sustainably sourced materials.
